Certainly. Be aware - though your encryption suggests you are already - that though this conversation is not in the public square, it's only as private as your encryption, and I'm not qualified to judge how good that encryption is, though I am familiar enough with encryption to not let an established encryption lapse on my end.

That said, what did you want to discuss?

[There are events of the night she's perfectly willing to discuss with him on the network. There are theoretical questions left hanging from their public discussion - like how to conduct an effective terrorism campaign - that she might be willing to discuss, but not in public. She just dunno.]

I'm not a hacker by any means, but I'm not unversed in covert communication.

I've been learning more about this place as I go. Seems I already have a bounty on my head. Not that I didn't expect it. I'm used to being on my own side, against a lot of enemies. Staying ahead of them is easy enough.

What did you say your abilities were, again? Mental powers?

I'm a telepath, I do more precision than raw power, and I'm not currently discussing range or raw power. There's a lot I can do when someone lets me into his head, and I can usually communicate the basics with someone without entering his shields if he's paying attention.

That's public information, so that's fine.

Why?

Can you parse memories and remove them?

Assuming someone allows me into his mind, I can parse memories.

Assuming someone allows me into his mind and is willing to let me make changes without fighting me, I can affect memories - I have done rather a lot of telepathic therapy making memories feel more distant, as if events happened years ago instead of yesterday. Whether or not I could remove a memory, as well as how negatively the mind might be affected afterwards, would depend on the memory in question. A recent memory might or might not be removable, depending on the events and the emotional reaction, but it would most likely be safe to remove if it could be done. A memory from years ago which formed the central point of a frequently-relieved trauma risks cascading into years of memory loss as the memories associated with it disappear as well.

[OOC: With a willing subject, yes, she can. (With an unwilling subject, it depends.) It's just a matter of whether she breaks the mind in the process.]

They're not my memories, if that makes it easier. They're just in my head, unwanted. I want to get them out.

That does make it easier.

Provided you can and will let me in, and assuming there's nothing about your mind which makes memories harder to change than in most, I can make the memories which don't belong to you ... quieter, shall we say. Whether I could delete them or not, and what would happen if I did, I'd have to be in your mind to tell.

I'm willing to give it a shot, if you are. However, I won't do it somewhere easily accessible. I'm assume there's a chance this process will leave me somewhat distracted, so I want a place that'll be hard to reach.

Since I'm pretty sure you don't have money, and it's difficult enough that I do want to be paid, I think I'd better ask for a favor. We can haggle boundaries around it if you like.

Alright. Just stay away from my core memories. The memories of Alex Mercer. Any memories through the eyes of another person, I want to off-load.

All right. We can discuss details in person. Consider whether there are edge cases in which the memory source is unclear, what you want to do with Alex Mercer's memories of remembering other people's memories, how much damage you are willing to have done to yourself in the process and especially how much damage you are willing to have done to yourself in order to delete rather than minimize these memories, and if I cannot outright delete the memories but instead make them distant, do you want the ability to consciously override the distancing to remember what it might be that's bothering you.

I don't care what it is. Delete them, mute them, seal them, lessen them. Whatever you have to do. They'd be manageable, but I don't just feel these memories, I partially relive them. I feel some of what they felt. They all have the same thing in common. I'm the last thing they saw, alive.

That sounds like an unusually unpleasant set of flashbacks.

I think that's as much as can be decided ahead of time of what to do. That leaves where and when.

Not offhand. I'll do some research.

I suppose if nothing else a freshly Darkness-proofed location in Sector 10 would work.
